What is the number one way to drive traffic to your website? Simply put, content. Fresh content is the biggest factor for any search engine crawl criteria. Continuous content change is crucial to Google crawling your site. If Google’s bots stop seeing regular changes to your site it will actually reduce the frequency in which it crawls your site. On top of that it will also reduce your page ranking.
Here is what Google has to say:
“Google’s spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index. Crawls are based on many factors such as PageRank, links to a page, and crawling constraints such as the number of parameters in a URL. Any number of factors can affect the crawl frequency of individual sites.
Our crawl process is algorithmic; computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site. We don’t accept payment to crawl a site more frequently.”
Here is what Boostability has to say:
“If you’re constantly adding new material to your website, Google won’t want to stay away; it won’t want to miss anything new that you post for fear of not having your site fully indexed in its search engine. Adding fresh content to your site is the easiest way to entice Google to come back and come back often. Frequently updating a news site makes sense, but small- and medium- sized business websites may have a tougher time coming up with ways to generate new content. Luckily, the addition of a blog to your site can give you the perfect platform for adding new material as often as you want. And yes, you can blog about anything, including replacement parts for hydraulic equipment.”
Content is king on the world wide web.
